Honest Review for Genesis Framework. Are you using a Genesis theme yet? You should be!

There are so many WordPress themes being sold that it can become very overwhelming just trying to figure out which theme works best for you to purchase.

When you have the Genesis framework, you get to choose from the best child themes.

You have your mega-sites like Envato.com and Themeforest.com that sell thousands of different WordPress themes from designers across the world.

I used to spend hours upon hours sifting through these mega-sites looking for WordPress themes.

I can't even begin to tell you how many times I unknowingly purchased a less than stellar theme, then had to start over from scratch because it clashed with a plugin I was using or some other functionality of the theme wasn't working properly (AHHHH!!!).

Sounds like buckets of fun to have to start over multiple times and waste hundreds of dollars, right? WRONG!

So eventually–through LOTS of trial, errors…….and tears– I figured out that there is a better way–Using the Genesis Framework by StudioPress! Let me teach you a few things about why I love this awesome software!

About Genesis Framework

My website (and nearly every website I build)  is run on the Genesis Framework. I originally created MompreneurMoney.com using the Cultivate Theme.

Find the best Genesis Framework Child Theme for your blog

Don't let the word “Child” throw you off. It's called a child theme because the Genesis Framework is seen more as the “Parent” in terms of the foundation of the blog code and the themes are secondary, thus more “child-like”.

Every Genesis Child Theme I have ever purchased has been sophisticated, savvy, and awesome!

Benefits of Using Genesis Framework

Now, I could write a book on the benefits of using the Genesis Framework.

As not to bore you with tech talk, let me just summarize what I love most about Genesis Framework that has led to me not only purchasing 6 different themes from them over the last few years, but also to being my theme of choice for clients.

Automatic Optimization

Genesis Framework automatically optimizes your website for search engines, your website is automatically responsive (looks great on tablets and phones too), you get automatic updates, airtight security, and more!

Trusted Genesis Framework Theme Developers

There is an awesome community of additional developers outside of StudioPress who build beautiful Genesis Child Themes. A few of my favorites include:

316 Designs

Pretty Darn Cute Designs

Helpful Customer Service

Any issues you encounter with a StudioPress theme can typically be solved by simply searching their ‘how to' instructions for an answer.

But if you can't find the answers you need there, they have a great searchable online forum or you can contact them via chat or phone to get an answer.

Easy to Switch Between Themes

You can easily switch between different ‘Genesis Child Themes' without messing up the underlying coding of your WordPress website.

With many other themes, once you go to change your theme to something different, your website often ends up looking like a jumbled mess because of your previous theme. This is not the case with Genesis Child Theme. Changing themes is easy and smooth because you have the Genesis Framework installed to protect the framework of your website.

Genesis Framework Tips

You must first purchase the Genesis Framework and install it before you install any Genesis Child Theme.

Genesis Framework is a layer of protective code that keeps your website running smoothly. It should cost you around $59 or you can bundle Genesis Framework and a Genesis Child Theme for around $99.

I'm sure some of you are saying, “$99 for a website theme!!! Are you crazy?”.  Now, I love to keep my expenses low just like most people.

However, after collectively spending hundreds of dollars on other themes that simply DID NOT WORK, I had no problem dishing out a hundred bucks for a theme that I know isn't going to go BONKERS on me two months down the road.

And let me reiterate this point once more –Once Genesis Framework is in place, you can change your theme 1000 times if you wanted!

You can use pretty much any Genesis Child Theme and only the cosmetic appearance of your blog will change…not vital pieces of the coding process.

This will give you peace of mind. (Trust me…I've experienced having to completely start from scratch because of a bad theme purchase which completely altered my blog's code.)

Once I started using Genesis Framework, I no longer had to worry about extreme cosmetic issues with my blog whenever I decided on a new theme.

I wish I would have gone straight for the Genesis Framework instead wasting hundreds of dollars of my money on themes that were not right for me–but lesson learned!

If at all possible, build your blog using the Genesis Framework and a Genesis Child Theme. You will not regret it.

  1. Greetings, Kari. Great article. Thank you for sharing. Do you have a recommendation for a Genesis Child Theme Developer that can help me customize it like the demo? I tried Fiverr and got scammed. Alternatively, the actual owners of the Child Theme (Mai) are way to expensive. It has been quite frustrating with SiteGrounf and WordPress/ Child Theme), quite expensive, and trying not to give up. Any affordable suggestions are greatly appreciated. Otherwise, I will have to cancel my orders (hoping to get a refund) and go back to Wix.

    Thanks in advance. 🙂

    1. Hi L 🙂 I understand what you mean. The first time I tried to create a self-hosted WordPress blog I was doing it all wrong (although I didn’t know it at the time) and I ended up asking for a refund. Then like 3 months later I realized I had it all wrong lol. If you are wanting to use Genesis Framework, and you want a feminine Genesis Child Theme, I recommend Restored 316 Designs. With Restored 316 Designs, you can get your Genesis Child Theme and get it installed for you for $147 (at the time I’m writing this). Here is the link to their services page: https://restored316designs.com/installation-services/. They will completely configure it for you to make it look like the demo. Then all you have to do is add your own content. Feel free to send me an email if you have more question–click the contact page at the bottom of my website. Wishing you much success! Don’t give up…it does get easier!
