In the spirit of inspiring more moms, I'm highlighting a different mompreneur and her story every Monday for the next few months.
These women are hardworking, amazing mommas who are balancing family life and creative business life. They are at varying levels with their blogging business. Some are just getting started. Some have been blogging for years.
Each mom offers a different perspective on what works (and doesn't work) for her when it comes to being a mompreneur.
Take a few minutes to read the mompreneur stories each week and find the inspiration you need to move forward with your own mompreneur journey! Be sure to check out the resources they recommend, take a closer look at their blogs, and signup for their mailing lists to keep in touch!
Interview with Jill at OneMoreLittleThing.com
What's the name of your blog? What do you blog about?
My blog is called one more little thing. It's to capture those extra “little” things I do each day. Right now, I blog mostly about healthy eating. With my freezer meal theory, I haves you spending only one night a week in the kitchen to create weekly freezer meals and jar salads. Different helpful momma tips are slowly working their way in.
How long have you been blogging and what made you decide to start a blog?
I bought my domain in sept 2016 but didn't do much more than set it up until EBA opened up. Now, I've been posting regularly for quite a few months.
I started my blog bc I have a large following on Facebook for a Trim Healthy Mama (THM) freezer meal group (10,000 members) and I wanted an easy way to capture everything I was sharing. I also get asked daily “how do you do it all” so I wanted to share how I do all the “Little” things I do.
How many children do you have? Ages? What do they think about you being a blogger?
I have six children. Liberty 9, Carter 8, Kennedy 7, McKinley 5, Lincoln 3, and Quincy 2. At this point, they don't really understand blogging but they think I'm a great cook and a fun trim healthy mama. Hah!
What's your favorite thing about blogging?
I love being able to help others. I went through some anxiety and postpartum after our third child was born and did counseling to help me find easy ways to handle 3 kids under 3. It helped so much! Since then I've found lots of easy ways to handle life, keep my house clean, keep good food on the table and keep the laundry done. I want other people to know they can do it too!
What your least favorite thing about blogging?
I hate trying to figure out how to monetize and keep going with EBA but I also know it will be worth it. Summer was hard because I didn't get much time to myself to work. However, I'm still keeping up with two weekly posts and EBA.
What's your favorite blogging tool that you simply cannot go without and why?
I would say I love the WP recipe maker. It's so easy to use and I post lots of recipes. I also love seeing my stats. So, I love Google Analytics and also Yoast.
What's the best advice you would give to a mom looking to start her own mompreneur business?
Do it because you love it not because you are going to make money. It takes a lot of time and energy. Also, blog about something that you do daily. That's how it works for me. I see an issue, I find a good solution and then test it, use it and share it. For many things, I don't even realize what I'm doing but I tell people about it and they are like “wow that's genius.” Hah!
Just for fun: If you were a beverage, which beverage would you be?
Well, I'm not a drinker and love my water but I've recently gotten into bai drinks. I love the carbonated bubble ones. They are still an antioxidant drink and yet are so tasty. I would say I'm a bai bubbles black cherry.
